FILMMAKER: Heave

Heave, written by Orla Graham and Seon Simpson, was a film/theatre hybrid. Developed to be performed at the Dublin Fringe festival within a Covid environment. I worked closely with Seon Simpson (director) to create a film that re-imagined a live theatrical story. We filmed the piece within a black box space, the one women character bringing us through her experience of a break-up and in doing so she conjured symbolic AV visuals within the black void of her dysfunction. Using her vignettes of recovery as the momentum to drive the visual language of the film, zooming in on her isolation and cutting to the “outside”/nature and ultimately her acceptance and progress.
